Friendster is Back! (In The Phillippines)

FriendstervsfacebookAlexa Web traffic data suggests that Friendster might be back from the dead. Could it be true that it is as popular (again) as the much-hyped Facebook?
Well, not in the U.S. A quick look at (the brand new) Google Trends tells us that most people looking to join Friendster these days are probably in the Phillippines, Brunei, Malaysia, or Indonesia. In the chart below, blue represents searches for the term "friendster" and orange represents "facebook."
Friendstergoogletrends I guess social networks have many lives.
If anyone has a good explanation for why Friendster is resurgent in Asia, please explain in comments.
